“In the Year of Our Lord”

Vol. 32 No. 12

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given;

and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 KJV

Christ is indeed the Prince of Peace.  Today in this world of war, natural disasters, and man made misery the only place we can find peace, as the scriptures tell us, is in Christ. He warned us that we would find no peace in the world.

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 KJV

The peace that Jesus Christ offers us is a very personal inner peace.  This peace can give us courage to face the calamities that are all around us, even in our own families as the evil philosophies of the world wreak havoc with devastating results to ourselves and our loved ones. But, Christ offers us comfort.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. “ John 14:27 KJV

It is difficult as we view the world on the nightly news to find any hope of peace.  Sometimes fear creeps in, as we see the events of the last days unfolding around us.  All of these circumstances were indeed known to God, foretold in the Holy Scriptures by His Prophets.  But, even in these difficult times God’s word blesses us when He reminds us…

“For God Hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord…but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God.” Second Timothy 1:7&8 KJV

The great power, which Christ has given us is the pure love of Christ…Charity.  We can find peace in our hearts this Christmas season as we participate in sharing the love of Jesus Christ through acts of Christ-like charity.  All around us are people in need of that powerful healer—love, a kind word, a thoughtful act. The scriptures encourage us to positive action.

“And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”  Galations 6:9 KJV

We can feel that sublime healing love of God and His peace as we contemplate the announcement of the heavenly host of Angels at the birth of Christ, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:14 KJV

May the peace and love of Jesus Christ be with you this blessed Christmas season.

Merry Christmas! Janine Hansen

Nevada Families/Eagle Forum Newsletter Moves into Our 33rd Year.

It will seem like a miracle when we finally get into our new home in Elko just in time for Christmas.  It has been a difficult odyssey, moving two households and an office, and living out of a suitcase for months while trying to get our house finished.  However, we have reflected many times about how truly blessed we have been.

Even though we have joked about being “homeless” we have had a comfortable place to stay with everything we need.  Consider the thousands of people in New Orleans affected by the hurricanes, the over 70,000 devastated by the earthquake in Pakistan, and the hundreds of thousands killed or left with nothing in the wake of the tsunami in Southeast Asia.

Often our adversities give us the opportunity to truly appreciate how blessed we are.  As we move into the 33rd year of the Nevada Families/Eagle Forum Newsletter, as the editor, I would like to acknowledge the hand of Providence in the work in which I personally have been privileged to participate. Working, almost a lifetime, in the cause of Life, Liberty and Family is a blessing most will never have the opportunity to experience.

My faith in Jesus Christ and His personal concern for each of us has been continually confirmed by the countless miracles I have witnessed working in the “cause”.  Thank you for your support of our efforts, which have made them possible these many years.
