The following is the letter Lynn Chapman & Janine Hansen emailed to the Committee:
AB185
makes an appropriation for the Women’s Research Institute of Nevada and the
National Education for Women's Leadership program. The amount of money to
be appropriated is $250,000 for the 2009-2010 school year, and another
$250,000 for the 2010-2011 school year.
After researching the Women's Research Institute of Nevada, we found this
organization to be extremely
political--supporting ideologies and philosophies which are antithetical
to the majority of families in Nevada.
It claims to be diverse, but where is the
diversity? It only represents one side of the political
spectrum. Where is the "other side" given equal time and equal taxpayers’
money?
AB185 is public money being spent on programs that are both very political and extremely one sided. This is not something that the taxpayers wish to fund in good times, let alone in our terrible economic crisis of today.
If the Women's Research Institute of Nevada wants to use private funds for this type of program--that is fine. That’s what Nevada Eagle Forum’s women do. We raise and spend our funds on the issues we support. We do not expect the taxpayers to fund our agenda or fund our development of future women leaders in our cause.
Please don't use our hard earned tax dollars to support a radical agenda and programming in the Universities. Our Nevada families can't afford it, nor do they want it.
The newsletters of the Women’s Research Institute of Nevada reveal their agenda. Please take a look http://wrin.unlv.edu/documents/WRINNewsletter2008.pdf Whether you agree or not, you can not help but realize that this represents a controversial political agenda.
Please vote NO on AB185. Don’t fund one-sided political agendas in our
Universities with public tax dollars.
Yours for liberty and family,
Lynn Chapman & Janine Hansen
