Citizen Lobbyist Workshops---Great Success!
I am very grateful to report that our Citizen Lobbyist Workshops in Minden, Las Vegas and Pahrump have been great successes. The Workshops were filled to near capacity. Those who attended were excited and enthused about having an impact on the upcoming Legislature. I want to give special thanks to Joe Hooven from Minden, Mary Rooney from Las Vegas, and Kenny Bent from Pahrump for all their work arranging the workshops. We have three upcoming workshops scheduled with two in Reno and one in Elko.
If your organization would like to host a Workshop it’s not too late. Contact Janine Hansen,

We are now preparing for the Legislature
As of now there are 973 Bill Draft Requests. Most of the BDR’s have only one sentence identifying what they contain. As they become bills, the language of the bill is available. They are then identified as AB = Assembly Bill, SB = Senate Bill, etc. I am bringing to your attention some of the current Bills.
AB53 removes from the NRS (Nevada Revised Statutes) all the requirements for drivers’ licenses, drivers’ authorization cards for illegal aliens and ID cards and gives this power to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) to determine what to accept for identification and issuance of the cards. I believe this should be left in State Statute where elected officials have oversight.
AB57 & SB105 makes the majority of the members of the School Boards in Washoe and Clark counties APPOINTED by the County Commission and the Governor. This eliminates the right of voters to vote for their own School Board Members. OPPOSE disenfranchisement.
AB99 Requires the government schools to teach the founding principles of the American Government including the origin and history of the U.S. Constitution, the Federalist Papers, the structure of government, the role of the separation of powers and the freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. Sponsored by Assemblyman Wheeler. SUPPORT Liberty
SB43 Authorizes automated (cameras) for traffic enforcement. In addition to the fine, it carries an automatic administrative fee of $50 or $100 for those who do not responds to the citation. The ticket is issued to the registered owner of the vehicle. These laws violate privacy and a citizen’s right to face his/her accuser, they are put in place to generate revenue not for safety, the person driving the car may not be the owner of the car, the cameras often do not work and may not be maintained properly, and cameras for red lights often increase rear-end collisions. OPPOSE more Big Brother
SB48 & SB61 Increases taxes on diesel fuel in rural counties (all counties except Clark and Washoe). In 2016 All the Rural Counties Voted overwhelmingly in opposition to raising the diesel taxes. OPPOSE more taxes and more money for government.
SB84 establishes a program to award grants (taxpayer money) out of the general fund to school districts, charter schools, and nonprofit organizations for Pre-Kindergarten programs. Pre-school government programs are a FAILURE for children and a BOONDOGGLE for Taxpayers. An excellent critique by the Cato Institute exposes Pre-School education, “Head Start,” as a failure at huge costs to taxpayers. “Forty-five years and $166 billion later, it has been proven a failure. In fact, not a single one of the 114 tests administered to first graders — of academics, socio-emotional development, health care/health status and parenting practice — showed a reliable, statistically significant effect from participating in Head Start.” OPPOSE more Big Brother.
SB107 Requires elected officials to resign their current office before filing nomination papers in order to seek another elected public office. This is sponsored by Senators Goichoechea and Settelmeyer. I think this is great! It would have meant that the current Attorney General Aaron Ford would have had to resign as a State Senator before he could file papers to run for AG. It helps to close the revolving door. SUPPORT
BDR’s include the following topics: SJR14 the huge property tax Constitutional Amendment, tax-funded abortions, numerous anti-gun rights bills, National Popular Vote to eliminate the Electoral College, another Article V Constitutional Convention which the Left supports, Annual Sessions of the Legislature, innumerable education and health care bills, anti-bullying bills which gave us transgenders in our children’s school bathrooms, many election law changes including same day registration and voting, more taxes, conjugal visits for prisoners, early childhood education—more government interference, water, public lands, and assisted suicide which has already resulted in Insurance Companies in Oregon and California withholding life saving treatment encouraging patients to choose suicide to save insurance companies money.
Government Shutdown Is Proving Americans Are Not Prepared For A Recession
Excerpts: This article was written by Mac Slavo and originally published at SHTFplan.com, Alt-market.com
According to the newest op-ed article by Market Watch, the government shutdown is perfectly proving that Americans are not prepared for a financial disaster of any kind, let alone an economic recession. Many have long assumed that the government (which as we all know is almost $22 trillion in debt) will be using their money (stolen funds aka, taxation) to bail out those who get themselves into trouble. But the shutdown is proving just how little the government actually does and just how financially illiterate many Americans have allowed themselves to become.
Almost 60% of Americans have less than $1000 in savings for a rainy day fund or an immediate emergency. It’s been ten years since the Great Recession left many Americans jobless with no money, and it appears most have learned nothing. The government shutdown serves as a painful warning and preview for what will happen once unemployment rises from 50-year lows. Americans are far too dependent on others, including the government, for their survival.
There is one way to prepare for a recession and it’s to end dependence on debt and save some money for an emergency. Without the shackles of credit card debt, student loan debt, and car payments, Americans could not only save more, but their money would go much further as no one has already claimed it in the form of debt repayment.
EDITOR'S NOTE: The reason why issues like the government shutdown are having such an immediate effect on Americans is partly due to the illusion of "high employment" in the US. While the unemployment rate APPEARS to be extraordinarily low today, the reality is that it is a rigged number that does not account for over 95 million people who are without work but not counted by the BLS. The statistic also does not account for underemployment and low wages. What this means is, many people who have an income are likely helping to pay for family and friends without an income, and, low wages that don't keep up with inflation are translating to ever increasing personal debts. With the government being one of the largest employers in the US, removing this revenue source even for a month is starting to cause panic. Consider for a moment, how many people are dependent on a government employee for their day to
